Alta Vista Malbec “Temis”

Alta Vista Malbec Single Terreno “Temis” 2006

Note: This is a Malbec drawn from a single terrain of land, the one known as Temis in the Alta Vista vineyards. It is located in Uco Valley.

Great purple reflections come through out of the dark red color of the wine. Seems rather mature.

Frosty, humid, rocky, and soft aroma, with floral notes.

Unique flavor, especially for a Malbec. The grapes drawn from Uco Valley, with its higher altitude, really have a different taste than what you get out of the grapes from Mendoza, making for a very interesting tasting experience for fans of traditional Malbecs. Of special note is the much higher acidity, as the colder weather of the higher altitude really preserves the acid in the wine. The acid is combined with a humid frostiness to create a very pleasant drinking experience. Some of the other Malbec notes, though, like the fruitiness, don’t come through as much. Still smooth on the way down, too.

Overall Score: 4.0/10
