The Blog

The Food Buster is a blog dedicated to busting the hype surrounding popular restaurants and foods throughout the nation and the world. Neither the type of cuisine, nor the price, nor the location matters. If the food is supposedly the “best of” something, or it is one of the most popular places in town, or even if a friend just recommends it to me as an extraordinary experience, it is my goal to test it in hopes of uncovering whether it really deserves the hype. The (unreachable) goal is to truly discover the best of the best, both across the United States and the globe.

The reviews will be divided into five general sections: Restaurants, Bakeries & Pastries, Ice Cream & Gelato, Chocolates, and Wine & Liquor. For the Restaurants, Bakeries, and Ice Cream & Gelato sections, I will find the most highly respected and popular eating establishments from reputable guides and Internet sites, such as Gayot and Chowhound.

The Chocolate section will focus on tasting boxes of assorted chocolates and especially various chocolate bars, typically gourmet ones, from across the world. I’ll review any bar I taste, but the bars I buy will tend to be those from producers that have won awards in international competitions or which have been reviewed highly by popular chocolate websites, like seventypercent.com.

Finally, the Wine & Liquor section is a project that really began in Argentina, as I tried to teach myself about wine by going on wine-tasting expeditions throughout the country. The goal was to find the best Argentine wine, and so the primary focus will be to review the vast collection of wines I have tried. However, I have since expanded my interest to wines from other countries as well as to other types of liquors, which will also be included.
