Bouza Tannat, Parcel A6
Composition: 100% Tannat
Barrel tasting from a private sample drawn the day before.
Since this wine had just been drawn, it had not matured in the bottle yet.
A6 is the designation for one of the best tannat-producing parcels at the Bouza winery. Bouza tries to increase the quality of its tannats by utilizing grapes only from those parcels that have produced great grapes that year, and by isolating the grapes used for any given bottle to a specific parcel of land, it not only assures quality but consistency of flavor.
Very nice color, especially for a wine that hasn’t been finished yet. Nice, sweet aroma, too. The aroma is very bold, with nice floral tones.
The taste itself is also very floral, though a bit on the plain side. It’s rather soft, and the wine itself is smooth. But it’s unfortunately too bitter, and lacks body and structure, the reason being it hasn’t finished ageing in the barrel yet and has yet to age in a bottle at all for its flavors to settle in and moderate. This wine is an interesting experience, but at this point it’s really not ready to be presented. Still, it does show a lot of promise.
No Score.
