Icoa Bar
White Chocolate Bar
Producer: El Rey
Country: Venezuela
Cost: $3.50

Very nice, nutty flavor. Does not taste much like a white chocolate—more like a milk chocolate, with a hint of nuttiness and a heavier cocoa butter taste that is characteristic of white chocolate. It’s nice. Smooth, nutty, flavorful, but not overpowering. Not cloying either—doesn’t leave you with a sugar shock aftertaste.

As for the quality of the bar, it’s nicely crafted. Doesn’t melt immediately on touch. At the same time, it doesn’t melt too well in the mouth.

Overall, it’s a pretty solid bar, but again, it tastes more like a solid milk chocolate, rather than white. Good if you like nuttier, milky flavors. Still, if you’re going to get this bar for a white chocolate, you’re looking in the wrong place—it doesn’t have the characteristic white chocolate taste. In light of that, and in light of the fact that you can get a better milk chocolate bar that does the same thing, I’d have to give it 2.5/5.0. Good value (bar is $3.50ish), but I’d pay more for another chocolate.

Presentation: N/A (I tried a sample, not the whole bar)
Melt: 2.0/5.0
Taste: 2.5/5.0
Value: 3.5/5.0
Overall Score: 2.5/5.0
