Divine White Chocolate with Strawberries
Producer: Divine Chocolate.
Region of Production: United Kingdom.
Price: About $4-$5 for 100g.
The wrapper is cheap but artistic, overloaded with a swirling design of multifarious colors. As for the bar, it’s polka-dotted all over with dehydrated strawberries. While the bar is smooth to the touch (i.e. strawberries don’t jut out), it doesn’t look quite as polished as I’d like, lacking gloss.
The strawberries are at first delicious, as the fruitiness melds well with the white chocolate. On first taste, the white chocolate doesn’t seem too sweet either. Instead, it’s rich and creamy, buttery and neutral.
That white chocolate then gives way to a lot of sweetness, as the chocolate becomes cloyingly sweet, very thick, and very sticky. A fruitier sweetness also kicks in, making for an even more unpleasant combo.
The strawberries break the melt of this bar too. You need to munch the bar down to get the full experience. I do, however, like the crunch, which is so intense that you can hear it constantly. It’s a very transient pleasure, of course, as neither the white chocolate nor the intense fruitiness of the dehydrated strawberries lasts on the palate.
Still, I give credit to Divine Chocolate for its big use of the ingredient, which is integrated into every bite and bursts with flavor. It’s immoderate but, in general, good. This bar, however, is very much only for those with a big sweet tooth.
