“Judas” Malbec

Judas Malbec 2006
Bodega Sottano
100% Malbec
Region: Luján de Cuyo
$70 on Wine-searcher. 1 Vendor.

Excellent color—jet black with ruby and violet shades.

Very strong, plum aroma, with coffee overtones.

Taste: It’s just so complex, so full bodied, so strong, and so bold. Very acidic and fruity, but very smooth and drinkable. It has a nice spicy finish, though it’s not terribly long. I taste a lot of chocolate, fruit, and especially smoke. A lot of coffee too. The spiciness is very refreshing. The only problem is that it’s a bit too strong—too much tannin, too oaky. And I just don’t think it’s worth $70.

Overall Score: 4.0/5.0. Horrible value, though. This wine just is not worth $70.
