Salentein El Portillo Sauvignon Blanc

El Portillo Sauvignon Blanc 2008
100% Sauvignon Blanc
Uco Valley
Bodega Salentein
I can’t find the exact year of this wine on Wine-searcher, but it goes for $9-$11.

The color is rather nice and clear, with golden tints.

It has a nice, light summer smell to it—a smell of peaches, tropical fruit, and apples. It’s citrusy, with a lemony freshness in the nose.

The taste is rather decent, especially for a sauvignon blanc. It has a bubbly lightness and is refreshingly acidic. It’s too dry for my taste, though it does have a nice, light berry and tropical fruit taste to it. It tends to become a bit too bitter in the finish.

Overall Score: 3.0/5.0, mostly for value. However, as a disclosure, I’m not a lover of sauvignon blanc wines. If you’re a fan, you might still want to give it a try—it’s better than what you’ll find at many Argentine wineries.
